I've got to give it to the people at
Hinge who just decided to show their members' Facebook relationship status on their profile to expose people who may be in relationships and using Hinge to step outside of it. Or, in other words, "exposes douches trying to hide they're married" according to
Mashable writer Stephanie Buck.
"Married, engaged or in a relationship on Facebook? Version 3.5 of Hinge will publish that info to your profile," says the press release from Hinge. They explain that their decision to do this was in response to
a recent poll by GlobalWebIndex, which found that 42% of Tinder users are already in relationships. "1.6% of our users are married or engaged," Hinge spokesperson Jean-Marie McGrath told Mashable. "That's a low number, but we want to make sure Hinge remains a place for people looking for dates and relationships."
None of this however does anything to prevent people who aren't "Facebook Official" from stepping out on Hinge and even if there is a distant connection you share with a person you match with there, can you really be sure they're not lying about their name, their age or using dating pics? Last time I checked Facebook nor Hinge do criminal background checks. These people could be convicts for all you know.
Its a good thing there's another free app for that. With facial recognition, name and age verification, even criminal background checks,
Love Lab can do the work for you. If you really want to build trust and chemistry before you date ask someone from Hinge to meet you on
Love Lab and trade photos and videos that must be taken using the camera in the app which will disappear after they've been viewed once. Available now for
iPhone and
coming soon to Android. Safeguard your love life with Love Lab today.
