Only 54% of Tinder Users are Single


I'm on Tinder and I'm engaged. I'm not there looking to hook up, I'm looking for potential matches on behalf of my clients. I put it front and center on my profile too. But there are an astonishing number of people in relationships on Tinder. Research firm GlobalWebIndex (GWI) released the results of a survey it did of more than 47,000 Internet users around the world that claims only 54% of Tinder users surveyed actually classed themselves as single (and 3% say they were divorced or widowed).

Amazingly 42% of the Tinder users surveyed say they are actually in relationships! That's why men and women are so fed up with dating. I get it. And that's why more people than ever are turning to matchmakers, singles events and dating coaches. According to an IBIS World report, in 2013 $626 million was spent outside of online dating and mobile dating which accounted for more than $1.4 billion combined.

The survey further concludes that 62% of the users are men. The Guardian reached out to Tinder for comment who disagreed with some of the results. They say that "more than 50% of (their) userbase is age 18-24. And altogether, 85% of (their) users are age 18-34." To read The Guardian article, click HERE.

There were more interesting findings by GWI as well. 72% of the users are using other dating sites and 24% of Tinder users are actually paying for other dating sites. To read the results of the GWI survey, click HERE.
