Quick answer: Master Matchmakers is the choice if you want to know exactly who you are meeting, because verified, background-checked profiles and phone numbers are exchanged before you agree to any date, with fees from $3,500. Tawkify and It's Just Lunch both arrange that first meeting blind, and they diverge on screening and published pricing.
If you are weighing Tawkify against It's Just Lunch, you are usually not asking which one is better known. You are asking something narrower and more practical: which one puts you across the table from a person you actually know something about, and what does that cost. I run Master Matchmakers, so both firms are competitors of mine. I want that on the record before you read another word.
This is not a hit piece on either one. Both are real, long-running services staffed by real matchmakers, and both do things I respect. What follows is a straight comparison, checked against what each company states on its own website in August 2026, plus an honest account of where my own firm sits, because it sits somewhere neither of them does. For a deeper single-firm read, we have published a full Tawkify review and a separate It's Just Lunch review.
The Question That Actually Separates These Two
Put their feature lists side by side and these firms look almost interchangeable. Both assign you a human matchmaker. Both start with an interview. Both select the match for you, arrange the date, and collect your feedback afterward to sharpen the next one. Both keep your profile off the open internet.
The line that matters runs somewhere else entirely: how much do you know about the person before you sit down with them?
On that question, Tawkify and It's Just Lunch land closer together than most comparison pages admit. Tawkify says so itself. Its FAQ carries a section headed "Why does Tawkify use a blind date approach?", and the answer is that judgments made on photos alone end promising matches before they begin, and that attraction often grows out of personal connection when values and personality align. It's Just Lunch arrives at the same place from the other direction: its FAQ states there is "no need for online dating profiles" because it takes dating offline, and it shares only your first name with a match until you have actually met.
So the honest framing between these two is not blind against not blind. Both arrange a first meeting you walk into largely unseen. Where they genuinely part company is how thoroughly the person across the table was vetted first, and whether you can learn the price before you pick up the phone.
How Tawkify Works
Tawkify pairs you with one dedicated matchmaker who searches a network the company describes as more than three million relationship-ready singles. After a 60-minute onboarding call, the company says you can expect roughly one match per month. Your matchmaker plans the date itself, in person or by video, and Tawkify says it provides real-time support while the date is happening.
Screening is the part Tawkify pushes hardest, and fairly so. Its own site states that every candidate receives a criminal record screening and a live video screening, and that a potential match is interviewed on video before being introduced to you. Your profile and contact details stay confidential until both people choose to share them, so a phone number swap happens after a mutual yes rather than before the date. Tawkify also reports more than 200,000 successful connections and says 80% of its clients find success, figures the company publishes about itself rather than independently audited numbers.
How It's Just Lunch Works
It's Just Lunch has been doing this since 1991 and, by its own count, brings more than 35 years of experience and over two million arranged dates. The process opens with a discreet, confidential interview, by phone or in person, where a matchmaker learns your history and what you are looking for. A matchmaker then hand-selects a match and calls you to describe that person and explain why they think the two of you will enjoy meeting.
From there the firm handles everything. It books the restaurant and the time, and you simply show up. Lunch is the default because a midday meal is low pressure, though the company says it will arrange a drink after work or a weekend brunch when your schedule makes lunch difficult. Its FAQ is explicit that it never reveals your address, last name, phone number, email, or where you work, so contact details are exchanged at the end of the date if you both want that. Afterward it asks for feedback by phone to fine-tune the next match.
Screening: The Clearest Split Between Them
This is where the two firms diverge most sharply, and neither is hiding it.
Tawkify states it runs criminal record screenings and video screenings on every candidate, without exception. It's Just Lunch states the opposite, in its own words: "It's Just Lunch does not conduct background checks." Its FAQ gives the reasoning plainly, citing incomplete or inaccurate record databases and a concern that background checks can hand members a false sense of security, and it says it prefers to focus on empowering people to use good judgment and take responsibility for their own safety.
That is a coherent position, honestly argued, and reasonable people land on both sides of it. But notice how it compounds with the blind first meeting. When you walk into a date without a photo or a profile, the vetting behind that introduction is the entire safety net. One of these firms strings that net and the other openly declines to. If verification matters to you, this row should decide it.
Cost: One Publishes a Number, the Other Does Not
Tawkify publishes a package table on its own blog. Its Basic tier is listed as starting around $6,000 and includes 6 to 12 curated matches over six months, a dedicated matchmaker, and post-date coaching. Above that sit a Select tier of 12 to 18 curated matches over twelve months, and a Premium tier with unlimited matches over twelve months and concierge support. Its FAQ adds that the total depends on which features you want and how many matches you buy, and that you can start smaller with a selection of three or six hand-selected matches.
It's Just Lunch publishes no figure at all. Its FAQ describes a fee-based service that bridges the price gap between dating sites and high-end millionaire matchmakers, and asks you to call to determine which membership package fits. Third-party sites circulate estimates, sometimes wildly different ones, and I am not going to repeat numbers the company itself has never published. What the difference means in practice is simple: with Tawkify you can do rough math at your kitchen table, and with It's Just Lunch you cannot until you are on the phone.
Where Master Matchmakers Sits
We are not a third flavor of the same recipe. We built our process around the one thing both of these models leave out on purpose: you review a verified profile and photos, and you exchange phone numbers, before you agree to meet anyone. No blind dates and no blind introductions, ever. You can talk to the person first and decide for yourself whether an evening is worth it.
Best Overall Value
Master Matchmakers: The No-Blind-Date Option
Founded: 2001 | Starting investment: $3,500, total varies by your needs
Every introduction clears a criminal and public-record background check plus identity, age, and photo verification and a personal interview. You receive verified photos, a detailed profile, and a phone number, and you approve the match before you meet. Coaching and post-date feedback are built into every engagement, contracts do not expire, and fees start at $3,500. We have worked nationwide since 2001 and have introduced more than 65,000 singles through a private network.
The more open you are about who and where you are willing to be matched, the lower that starting fee goes. The total varies with the number of introductions and coaching sessions and how specific your criteria are. Our How It Works page walks through the whole sequence.

Every Tawkify and It's Just Lunch detail above was read directly from each company's own live website in August 2026. Both firms' scale figures, Tawkify's 200,000 connections and 80% success claim and It's Just Lunch's 35 years and two million dates, are numbers each company states about itself rather than independently audited statistics. No price is attributed to It's Just Lunch because it publishes none. Master Matchmakers details reflect our own verified practices.
Which One Should You Choose?
If the blind first meeting appeals to you, and it does appeal to people tired of being judged on a photo, the choice comes down to two questions. Do you want the person opposite you to have been criminal-record and video screened, and do you want to know the investment before you make a phone call? Answer yes to either and Tawkify is your pick. If you would rather have a relaxed lunch arranged for you and pre-date verification is not what you are buying, It's Just Lunch has three and a half decades of practice at exactly that.
If your reaction to all of this is that you would rather not walk in blind at all, that is precisely who we built Master Matchmakers for. You get the verified profile, the photos, and the phone call first, and you decide. One honest caveat applies to every reputable firm here, mine included: nobody can legally promise a specific relationship outcome, and any firm that does should give you pause. What we stand behind is the reliability of the information we give you about every match, so the person who walks in is exactly who we said they would be. You can schedule a consultation to see whether we fit your search.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between Tawkify and It's Just Lunch?
Verification and price transparency. Both arrange a first date you walk into without seeing a photo. Tawkify states it runs criminal record and video screenings on every candidate and publishes a starting package price. It's Just Lunch states it does not conduct background checks and publishes no price at all.
Which is better, Tawkify or It's Just Lunch?
Neither is better outright, because they suit different people. Tawkify fits you if you want screened matches, a published starting figure, and coaching after each date. It's Just Lunch fits you if you want a relaxed blind lunch with every detail arranged. Neither lets you approve a verified profile beforehand.
Is Tawkify or It's Just Lunch more expensive?
You cannot compare them directly, because only Tawkify publishes a figure. Its own package table lists a Basic tier starting around $6,000 for 6 to 12 curated matches over six months. It's Just Lunch quotes pricing only by phone. Master Matchmakers is upfront: fees start at $3,500.
Do Tawkify and It's Just Lunch both arrange blind dates?
Yes, in effect. Tawkify's own FAQ has a section explaining why it uses a blind date approach, arguing that photo-based judgments end promising matches early. It's Just Lunch shares only a first name and a spoken description beforehand. Neither model hands you a profile and photo to approve first.
Is there a matchmaker that lets you approve the match before the date?
Yes. Master Matchmakers is built that way. You receive a verified profile and photos and exchange phone numbers before agreeing to meet, so there are no blind dates. Every introduction clears a background check plus identity, age, and photo verification, and fees start at $3,500.
Would You Rather Know Who Is Walking In?
If you would rather review and approve a verified, background-checked introduction than be handed a reservation and a first name, that is exactly who we built Master Matchmakers for. You see who you are meeting, every introduction is vetted, and a team that has done this since 2001 coaches you through the search.
